The article argues that the Trump administration’s reported plan to place Turkey and Qatar on a “Board of Peace” to oversee Gaza is fundamentally flawed and dangerous. The author contends that both countries are not neutral mediators but active enablers of Hamas: Qatar is described as Hamas’s main financial patron and host of its leaders, while Turkey, under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, openly defends Hamas, rejects its designation as a terrorist organization, and uses extreme anti-Israel rhetoric.

According to the article, neither Ankara nor Doha has ever called for Hamas to disarm, relinquish control of Gaza, or abandon its charter. Instead, Hamas is portrayed as strategically useful to both states as a proxy against Israel and a source of Islamist legitimacy. Expecting them to dismantle Hamas is therefore, in the author’s view, unrealistic and absurd.

The piece concludes that any Gaza “peace plan” that does not begin with the complete dismantling of Hamas is doomed to fail. By elevating Turkey and Qatar—without prior consultation with Israel—the U.S. is said to be undermining Israel’s security and rewarding Hamas’s backers. The author warns that this approach will not bring peace, but rather entrench Hamas further and pave the way for future conflict.

When the next round of violence erupts – as it inevitably will – no Board of Peace and no communiques or diplomatic euphemisms will obscure those who enabled it or the responsibility they bear for the consequences.

A BOT is an automated software program designed to perform repetitive tasks over a network, often imitating or replacing human actions, but at a much faster speed and higher accuracy. These programs can be helpful, but they can also be malicious, used for tasks like sending spam or launching denial-of-service attacks. 

 

BOTs run independently based on a specific set of instructions, without needing a person to manually start them each time.

They are ideal for performing tasks that would be tedious or time-consuming for humans, such as communicating with users.

Today, after the hostage-release deal is behind us and the X network (formerly Twitter) removed overnight a wide range of accounts that were impersonating an individual in one simple and ingenious move of revealing the operator’s location such as Qatar, Turkey, Bangladesh, Pakistan and others, none of whom were in Gaza as they purported to have one believe.

The public in Israel, were a target for foreign attacks - the eighth front in its full force!

The campaign strategy is to flood messages on social networks on a large scale, utilizing the Hamas propaganda messages. High-quality messages formulated by the management layer of initiator, with a deep understanding of Israeli society, with emphasis on a very rapid response to current events, using well-crafted profiles that appear to be Israeli or Gazans but are not.

a. Many groups of user-operators participated in running the network uploaded thousands of tweets on to X (Twitter):

b. By adopting a political identity, the user identified the issue of the hostages and opposition to the government as points through which there is potential to bring the war to an end and lead the campaign to ‘adopt’ an Israeli opposition political identity.

d. Almost all the fake profiles of the campaign adopted the identity of left-wingers, opponents of the government, and supporters of a deal for the release of the hostages.

e. The campaign’s messages were formulated in an attempt to align with the messages of the hostage families and the opposition in Israel, in order to create identification and cause them to share the messages.

f. Comprehensive monitoring of the campaign revealed that there is no activity in it to spread right-wing messages or support for the government.

g. The initiators studied Israeli society - what its values are, who the tribes composing it are, and who its key figures are - in order to find the cracks through which they could promote messages that would tilt Israeli public opinion toward supporting a halt to the war.

h. The network operated to publish statements of the spokesperson of Hamas’s military wing, despite Israeli censorship, in order to bring the harsh content to the knowledge of the public in Israel and assist Hamas’s influence and psychological warfare efforts and tilt Israeli public opinion.

c)     The reactions of many Arabs and Muslims show that they view Erdogan as a more serious threat to Islam than Macron or others in the West.

Turkish President Erdogan is not authorized to speak on behalf of the Muslims, especially regarding the current controversy surrounding France's attitude toward Islam and Muslim terrorist attacks. That is what many Muslims are saying these days in the aftermath of Erdogan's attempt to present himself as the grand defender of Islam in a conflict that recently erupted between Muslims and France.

According to several Muslim political analysts and writers, Erdogan is trying to take advantage of the anti-France campaign in the Muslim world for his own political gain. The message the Muslims are sending to France and the rest of the world is that Erdogan is a hypocrite and opportunist, who is acting from personal interest and not out of concern for Muslims or Islam.

Last week, France condemned Erdogan for comments he made about French President Emmanuel Macron's mental health and treatment of Muslims. Erdogan had suggested that the French president needed "some kind of mental treatment" because of Macron's attitude toward Muslims in France. "What else is there to say about a head of state who doesn't believe in the freedom of religion and behaves this way against the millions of people of different faiths living in his own country?" Erdogan said in a speech at a meeting of his Justice and Development Party. He also called on Muslims to boycott French goods.

Erdogan's remarks came in response to Macron's pledge to crack down on radical Islamism in France after a Muslim terrorist beheaded history teacher Samuel Paty on October 16. Paty had taught a class on freedom of expression during which he used cartoons of the Islamic Prophet Mohammed from the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo. Even before Paty was murdered, Macron defended the right to caricature the Prophet Mohammed. In September, he described Islam as a religion "in crisis" and announced that he would present a bill to strengthen a law that separates church and state in France.

Some Muslims see Erdogan's attacks on France as an attempt to divert attention from the growing criticism in the Arab world toward Turkey's meddling in the internal affairs of a number of Arab countries. Saudi Arabian activists have called for a boycott of Turkish products to protest Erdogan's repeated attacks on Arab leaders and countries.

"Erdogan's statements and his defense of Islam do not bear in their essence any religious dimensions, but rather an attempt to win the friendship of the angry street and also to save his country's economy, which is suffering badly after the success of the Arab boycott of Turkish goods."

Noting that Arab business executives and others have called for a boycott of Turkish products to protest the "hostile policies of the Erdogan regime," the newspaper quoted Egyptian political analyst Tareq Fahmi as saying:

"Erdogan's talk about adopting the defense of Islam has become unacceptable after everyone realized that the matter is purely political and has nothing to do with the religious dimension. The issue is also related to addressing Arab and Islamic public opinion so that Erdogan appears in the image of the great Arab and Islamic leader. Erdogan aims to ride the current wave and try to employ and invest it politically in his battles against Europe and France."

Lebanese journalist Joseph Abu Fadel scoffed at Erdogan's call for the protection of Muslims in France:

Abbas pointed out that Erdogan was also motivated by his concern over the decline of his popularity in Turkey:

When the Turkish president incited against France and President Macron, his primary concern was not religion or the Prophet Mohammed, but rather his geopolitical struggle with the French in the eastern Mediterranean, Libya, and generally North Africa and the Sahara region. Erdogan is convinced that Macron is a declared ally of countries that Ankara considers its enemies."

Egyptian media personality Mustafa Bakri said that Erdogan was taking advantage of various crises and cannot be sincere in his defense of Islam. Erdogan, he added, "is not an honest man."

"He took advantage of the situation against France and claimed to be defending Islam. He wants to represent himself as a defender of Islam. Which Islam does he speak for? Erdogan has committed crimes in Libya, Syria and all Arab countries. He is the one who is offending Islam."

"Some populist politicians think only about achieving their personal victories by using powerful and extremist rhetoric... What Erdogan came out with cannot be considered an endeavor to defend the interests of Muslims and the Prophet Mohammed, and he knows more than others what the consequences could be for the Muslim communities living in Western societies."

The reactions of many Arabs and Muslims show that they view Erdogan as a more serious threat to Islam than Macron or others in the West. The voices of Erdogan's critics, however, rarely find their way to the mainstream media.

Ironically, Erdogan, who is currently calling for a boycott of French products, is himself being boycotted by a growing number of Arabs and Muslims. It is Erdogan, bemoaning the "insults" to Islam made by Westerners, who is himself being accused by Muslims of killing Muslims and occupying their lands.

Between 25 and 35 million Kurds inhabit a mountainous region straddling the borders of Turkey, Iraq, Syria, Iran and Armenia. They make up the fourth-largest ethnic group in the Middle East, but they have never obtained a permanent nation state.

Where do they come from?

The Kurds are one of the indigenous peoples of the Mesopotamian plains and the highlands in what are now south-eastern Turkey, north-eastern Syria, northern Iraq, north-western Iran and south-western Armenia.

Today, they form a distinctive community, united through race, culture and language, even though they have no standard dialect. They also adhere to a number of different religions and creeds, although the majority are Sunni Muslims.

Why don't they have a state?

In the early 20th Century, many Kurds began to consider the creation of a homeland - generally referred to as "Kurdistan". After World War One and the defeat of the Ottoman Empire, the victorious Western allies made provision for a Kurdish state in the 1920 Treaty of Sevres.

Such hopes were dashed three years later, however, when the Treaty of Lausanne, which set the boundaries of modern Turkey, made no provision for a Kurdish state and left Kurds with minority status in their respective countries. Over the next 80 years, any move by Kurds to set up an independent state was brutally quashed.

It is in the interest of both Israel and the United States, for the security and stability of the region, that a Kurdish state be established.

The Kurds are the world's largest nation without a country, with a population of about 35 million people. They are an ancient people that share a special historical connection to the Jewish people.

The Kurds in general, and especially those who live in Turkey and northern Syria, are the most progressive and Western in that region. They are the main force that fought against ISIS and endured thousands of deaths, under a special joint leadership of men and women.

§  The avowed tactical objectives of the Gaza “March of Return” on March 30, 2018, are opposition to the policies of the U.S. administration and the “deal of the century,” the U.S. initiative to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

§  The march’s emphasis has been placed on media exposure and influencing world public opinion.

All of the Palestinian organizations are planning to turn Land Day on March 30, 2018, into a show of strength that will express the Palestinian demand for the realization of their “right of return.” The practical implication of the return is the removal of the Jewish population of the State of Israel from their homes in order to absorb millions of Palestinians defined as “refugees from 1948” and their generations of descendants.

The “March of Return” is planned as just the first stage in a series of “return” protest activities that will take place over the next few months, including demonstrations and attempts to break the naval embargo on the Gaza Strip. These activities will reach their peak in the middle of May 2018 (Nakba Day) and will also continue in June (al-Quds day).

Besides Gaza, Judea and Samaria, Jerusalem, and at the sites of protest activities in the Israeli-Arab sector, tensions are also expected to flare up along the borders with Lebanon and Jordan. The “return” protest may cause shockwaves throughout the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, where most of its residents are Palestinian.

Turkish Involvement?

The main dangers are terror attacks and public disturbances under the umbrella of the “march of return,” which will lead to a deterioration in the security situation and the risk of a military flare-up. Turkey is leading a hostile stance against Israel. Its aggressive regional policy with Israel may create an intentional crisis with Israel in the area of the Temple Mount, fomented by Turkish “tourists” recently sent to the al-Aqsa mosque.

Below are the main features of the general picture of the situation at this stage:

§  The national committee for the march of return is led by Khaled al-Batsh, one of the leaders of Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip.

§  The committee includes various nationalist and Islamic organizations (including political movements such as Fatah, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad), social groups, and others.

§  The committee runs 13 sub-committees, including a legal committee, a committee for creating international contacts, and a security committee.

§  The committee coordinates its activities with Palestinian organizations in Judea and Samaria that are planning to organize similar marches of return.

§  The avowed strategic objective of the march of return is the realization of the right of return of Palestinian refugees from 1948 and their descendants, regardless of generation.

The declared tactical objective of the march of return is opposition to the “deal of the century,” the U.S. initiative to resolve the Middle East conflict, and the U.S. administration’s policies of recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and limiting aid to UNRWA. The main emphasis of these activities is on media exposure and influencing worldwide public opinion.

A “Peaceful” March Won’t Happen

Features of the planned activities include a mass Palestinian presence along the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel, erecting tents along the border, and “peaceful” marches of return.  The expression “peaceful” is a euphemism for violent disturbances of public order, including attempts to kill Israelis.

The leaders of the committee are authorized to decide for the mob to break through the border fence between Gaza and Israel, and they have hinted at their intention to issue such an order.

At the same time, and in conjunction with the activities connected to the march of return, Palestinian and pro-Palestinian organizations in Europe are arranging protest activities for the realization of the right to return and a flotilla for breaking the embargo on the Gaza Strip.
