For over two years, the screams of the victims of October 7 have been met with a chilling and selective silence from much of the international community. Today, that silence is shattered by the weight of an unprecedented evidentiary archive. The release of the landmark report titled “Silenced No More: Sexual Terror Unveiled: The Untold Atrocities of October 7 and Against Hostages in Captivity” marks a definitive turning point in the struggle for truth.

Commissioned by the Civil Commission on October 7th Crimes by Hamas against Women and Children, this document is the result of a rigorous independent investigation led by Dr. Cochav Elkayam-Levy, the 2024 Israel Prize laureate.

Supported by a team of legal giants, including former Canadian minister of justice and attorney-general Irwin Cotler and former UN chief prosecutor David Crane, the Commission has synthesized a staggering volume of evidence. The archive contains over 430 testimonies, 1,800 hours of visual analysis, and 10,000 photographs.

The report identifies 13 distinct patterns of abuse, establishing that sexual and gender-based violence was not incidental. Instead, it was a systematic and deliberate component of the Hamas assault, used to amplify terror through digital dissemination and the horrific practice of kinocide, which is the weaponization of family members to witness the degradation of their loved ones.

As we digest these findings, we must recognize two competing truths. First, we still do not and may never understand the full extent of these horrors.

We must take the time to really ponder and remember the individual suffering of the victims. This is not a matter of policy but of profound human agony that demands our undistracted collective memory. Irrefutable proof must stop denialism

With the release of this irrefutable proof, let this be the final day of October 7 denialism. For months, the world has watched as high-profile figures used their massive platforms to cast doubt on the suffering of Israeli women. Former Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters, just one of many, has been among the most vocal, publicly claiming there is “no evidence” of Hamas rapes and dismissing the testimonies of survivors and first responders as “filthy, disgusting lies.”

When global feminist organizations and UN bodies waited months to even acknowledge these atrocities, they provided a shield for Hamas and signaled worldwide that the slogan “Believe Women” has a geographic and political limit.

This report removes that shield once and for all. It demands that the world stop asking for “more evidence” when the archives are already overflowing with it.

There is, however, a profound note of hope within these harrowing pages. The report’s extensive legal analysis provides a clear evidentiary basis for the investigation and prosecution of these acts as war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocidal acts under international law.

The perpetrators of this mass-scale sexual violence must be brought to justice. Now, armed with the truth, we must ensure they are heard in the halls of justice. The era of denial must end, replaced by an era of accountability and a deep international commitment to honoring the memory of those who suffered the unthinkable.

 

 

Something about Israel Makes People Uncomfortable

 There’s something about Israel that makes people uncomfortable, and it’s not what they say it is.

They’ll point to politics, settlements, borders, and wars. But scratch beneath the outrage, and you’ll find something deeper. A discomfort not with what Israel does, but with what Israel is.

A nation this small should not be this strong. Period.

 Israel has no oil. No special natural resources. A population barely the size of a mid-sized American city. They are surrounded by enemies. Hated in the United Nations. Targeted by terror. Condemned by celebrities. Boycotted, slandered, and attacked.

And still, they thrive like there’s no tomorrow.

In military. In medicine. In security. In technology. In agriculture. In intelligence. In morality. In sheer, unbreakable will.

 They turn desert into farmland.
They make water from air.
They intercept rockets in mid-air.
They rescue hostages under the nose of the world’s worst regimes.
They survive wars that were supposed to wipe them out, and win.

 The world watches this and can’t make sense of it. So they do what people do when they witness strength they can’t understand.

 They assume it must be cheating.
It must be American aid.
It must be foreign lobbying.
It must be oppression.
It must be theft.
It must be some dark trick that gave the Jews this kind of power.
It must be blackmail.

 Because heaven forbid it’s something else.
Heaven forbid it’s real.
Heaven forbid it’s earned.
Or worse, destined.

 The Jewish people were supposed to disappear a long, long time ago. That’s how the story of exiled, enslaved, hated minorities is supposed to end. But the Jews didn’t disappear. They actually came home, rebuilt their land, revived their language, and brought their dead back to life — in memory, in identity, and in strength. That’s not normal. It’s not political. It’s biblical.

 There’s no cheat code that explains how a group of people return to their homeland after 2,000 years.

There is no rational path from gas chambers to global influence.

And there is no historical precedent for surviving the Babylonians, the Romans, the Crusaders, the Inquisition, the pogroms, and the Holocaust, and still showing up to work on Monday in Tel Aviv.

 Israel doesn’t make sense.

Unless you believe in something beyond the math.

This is what drives the world crazy. Because if Israel is real, if this improbable, ancient, hated nation is somehow still chosen, protected, and thriving.

 Maybe God isn’t a myth after all.
Maybe He’s still in the story.
Maybe history isn’t random.
Maybe evil doesn’t get the last word.
Maybe the Jews are not just a people… but a testimony.

 That’s what they can’t stand.

Because once you admit that Israel’s survival isn’t just impressive, but divine, everything changes. Your moral compass has to reset. Your assumptions about history, power, and justice collapse. You realize you’re not watching the end of an empire. You’re witnessing the beginning of something eternal.

So they deny it.
They smear it.
And rage against it.

Because it’s easier to call a miracle “cheating” than to face the possibility that God keeps His promises and He’s keeping them still.

Looking at the most explosive political issue threatening to derail the Israeli government mid-war: namely, the conscription of roughly 63,000 young Haredi men to the Israel Defense Forces. One would hardly know, listening to the hyperventilation in the Israeli media, that there are already 6,000 Haredi men serving in the army, that hundreds of them are combat soldiers, and that they volunteer in such solid and consistent numbers that the IDF saw fit, in 1999, to establish an independent battalion just for Haredi soldiers, called Netzah Yehuda.

How come Haredis don’t serve in the army? Why those Haredis who showed up rejected.

Haim Ramon, a longtime Labor Party politician who served as a minister in Yitzhak Rabin’s cabinet happened to browse a document released by the Knesset’s research and information center that provided statistics about various population groups and their representation in the IDF. One stat in particular left Ramon feeling confused: Since Oct. 7, the Knesset revealed, 4,000 young Haredi men showed up of their own volition and asked to volunteer to fight, an initiative that would’ve doubled the number of Haredi soldiers overnight and proven a potential way out of the political impasse.

Almost immediately, the IDF deemed 3,120 of these men unfitting to serve, mostly for being too physically weak to fight. Which, if you know anything about the IDF, is a shocking revelation. A non-Haredi Israeli would have to suffer from a truly debilitating health condition to be found unfit for service; otherwise, 18-year-olds struggling with all manner of maladies—asthma, say, or a bad back or a minor heart condition, even with Downs Syndrome —are happily recruited and assigned to support positions that do not require strenuous physical exertion. You can find these excellent and motivated men and women serving as intelligence officers or riflery instructors, drivers or parachute packers, performing services the army absolutely needs. And you’d think that with the national interest allegedly being the swift swelling of the IDF’s ranks, the army would’ve made an effort to accommodate these enthusiastic young Haredis in its ranks.

Instead, not only were they rejected, but also, of the 880 volunteers who were found fit, only 540, or 61 percent, were recruited. In total, then, of the throngs of proud and patriotic black-hatted Israelis who, when it mattered most, wished to join their brothers and sisters in fighting, the army accepted a mere 13.5 percent.

This heartbreaking account provides us with two urgent insights.

First, the entire debate about Haredis in the army is predicated on a bright, shiny untruth. The army doesn’t need Haredi recruits to meet its goals. If it did, it would’ve welcomed every one, or at least the ones physically fit to fight. The army further understands that fully integrating Haredim into its ranks would require a wide array of logistical challenges—providing strictly kosher food, for example, or addressing concerns rising from coed military service—it currently cannot and does not want to address.

Second, while liberal Israeli politicians are quick to refer to Haredis in derogatory terms like shirkers and parasites, the Haredi community has just shown that it is more committed than ever to seeing itself as part of Israel’s national narrative. If you’re looking for a bit of perspective there, a 2023 report from the State Comptroller’s office revealed that, in 2021, a whopping 32 percent of young military-age Tel Avivis chose not to join the IDF, a fact that generated precisely zero national outcry.

Put bluntly, anyone who is asking why Haredis don’t serve in the army should first ask why the army widely rejected those Haredis who showed up.

You interned Holocaust survivors in Cyprus like they were criminals. And now you’re wagging your colonial finger at Jews for building homes on our ancestral hills?

Go shove your royal hypocrisy back into Buckingham Palace and deal with your own collapsing society—where knife crime, antisemitism, and Islamic extremism are more common than fish and chips.

France

Liberté, égalité, fraternité—unless you’re a Jew. You deported over 75,000 Jews to their deaths during the Holocaust with the full cooperation of the French Vichy regime. You let them be shoved into cattle cars from the Vel d’Hiv while Parisians watched. And after the war? No justice. No reckoning. Just decades of indifference and empty words. Today, Jews are being stabbed in the streets of France, synagogues are under military guard, and you still have the audacity to lecture us about morality?

You couldn’t defend your own republic from a gang of jihadists in a van, but now you want to dictate how Israel defends itself from genocidal terrorists hiding behind human shields? You are morally bankrupt and culturally collapsing. Go lecture someone else while your republic burns.

Canada

Oh Canada—America’s cold, smug, spineless cousin. Your “moral high ground” is a snow-covered hill of lies. You locked Jewish refugees out during the Holocaust. The ship St. Louis begged for your mercy. You sent them back—to die. “None is too many,” your officials said. That’s your legacy. Your history. And today, your politicians pose for photo ops in mosques that glorify martyrs while denouncing Israel for fighting genocidal killers.

You’ve turned your universities into Hamas fan clubs and your Parliament into a circus of virtue signaling. You host terrorists in suits and call it diplomacy. You abandoned the Jews when we were stateless, and now you want to punish us for defending our state?

We’re not the broken, stateless Jews of 1942. We’re the sovereign people of Israel—armed, aware, and unapologetic. Your sanctions are a joke. Your threats are meaningless. Your moral lectures are garbage. We don’t need your permission to live. We don’t need your validation to fight.

You allowed Jewish blood to soak your soil for centuries. Now that Jews fight back, build, thrive—you clutch your pearls?

Israel doesn’t need your empty Western democracy. We have something older, holier, and stronger: truth, covenant, survival.

BBC’s Bowen Claims “Israel Trying to Control the Media”

BBC’s Jeremy Bowen complains that “Israel continues to prevent independent journalistic access to Gaza – it will do so until there is a ceasefire and even then, if Israel remains in control of the territory, I am not sure we will be allowed in.

I don't think the Israeli forces are worried about whether we are safe in there or not – I think there are things they don't want us to see and that they want to master the media battlefield. So they are fighting on all fronts and controlling the media is one of them.

If you look at Israeli TV, it is focused 24/7 on Gaza of course. But what you don’t see is Palestinian suffering. You see troops, the home front, constant reminders of what happened on 7 October. You see the pain of the hostage families.

What you do not see are stories of individual Palestinians, nor the colossal scale of the damage going on in Gaza.”

So this is his point of biased view, but let’s break this down.

1. Israel’s borders with Gaza are shut. Period.
2. Foreign journalists were previously able to enter the Gaza Strip through the Erez Crossing, which has been closed since October 7 after Hamas destroyed it.. There is no “business as usual” for passage between Israel and Gaza for anyone, including journalists.
3. The international media do, however, have the ability to attempt to enter Gaza through the Rafah Crossing on the Egyptian side.
4. But Bowen believes that Israel is preventing foreign media from entering because “there are things they don’t want us to see and that they want to master the media battlefield.

”It is arguably not to Israel’s benefit that foreign journalists are not in Gaza. Because Palestinian stringers and agenda-driven Arab outlets such as Al Jazeera are currently the only ones supplying all of the coverage from inside the Strip.

5. Despite a steady flow of damaging footage from Gaza showing injured women and children while suspiciously never showing Hamas terrorists, Bowen still believes Israel is “controlling the media.”

But is Israel also controlling its domestic media in the cause of ensuring its people don’t see any Palestinian suffering? Israel’s government may wish it had some semblance of control over the country’s newspapers and TV stations but the reality is that Israeli media is fiercely independent.

Israel is a country still traumatized by those events and for Bowen to expect Israeli media to be broadcasting the same sympathetic content on Gaza as his own BBC or other foreign media is both unrealistic and meant to portray Israelis as somehow immune to the suffering of ordinary Palestinians.

How dare Bowen make such a judgment. Israelis are still processing and trying to come to terms with October 7 and the resulting impact on the country. Israeli TV news is now broadcasting footage of the funerals of Israeli soldiers, many of whom were reservists who left their families and day jobs to defend their country. Many may have lost their lives because the IDF has used ground troops rather than airstrikes precisely to avoid causing Palestinian civilian casualties.

Jeremy Bowen is correct: there is a media battlefield. Israel has every right to fight on that battlefield especially when foreign journalists like himself weaponize their news reports to assault the Jewish state.

In a long Twitter post, Bennett stressed the significance of AI and the important role Israeli high-tech should play in its development.

 “There is no time to lose. The State of Israel must set itself a clear goal: To become one of the three leading artificial intelligence (AI) powers in the world by 2030,” wrote former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in a Twitter post stressing the significance of AI and the important role Israeli high-tech should play in its development.

 The world is racing forward with technology that is going to change reality as we know it. Artificial intelligence technology is advancing at an exponential rate all over the world, and it marks the biggest revolution of our generation,” wrote Bennett. 

“Many of us have experienced a first taste using ChatGPT that amazes everyone who uses it. And it is clear to all of us that we are at the very beginning of AI. We haven't seen anything yet.”

 Bennett noted that in his recent travels around the world, AI is the main issue preoccupying companies and world leaders. “Everyone understands that whoever misses the revolution will remain irrelevant, like a horse-drawn carriage driver in the era of cars,” explained Bennett.

 “Artificial intelligence is going to change, disrupt, and transform almost all areas of our lives in a radical way, and all this in the near time frame of the next few years.”

Bennett went on to break down the influence he believes AI will have on a variety of sectors and added some personal insights. “Education will change completely as a student will be able to learn and progress at a pace and in a way that matches their abilities, inclinations, and interests,” wrote Bennett. 

“The role of teachers will change dramatically, and it is still difficult to predict how. Interim proposal: Instead of schools and universities banning students from using ChatGPT, they should encourage as much intelligent use as possible.

 “The field of health and medical treatment will undergo a revolution of optimization and upgrading. AI will become an indispensable tool for every doctor. Israel, with its health funds and health system, can take the lead.”

 Bennett noted how AI tools will be able to replace a significant part of the work of lawyers and that in the near future judges will use AI to help them make decisions.

In regards to the security sector, Bennett said: “Every army in the world should now adopt technologies that could replace sending soldiers to the front. Suppose there is an enemy-saturated village. Before you send troops in, maybe send dozens of drones, small robots, and mini-vehicles to roam the village, study it, then attack. If we don't do it, our enemies will.”

 Bennett concluded by saying that the Israeli government must immediately define leadership in the field of artificial intelligence as a central goal for the State of Israel. “It is likely that the U.S. and China will be the global leaders because they have the resources to do so, and also because both have already marked it as an urgent national goal. For them, it is somewhat similar to the nuclear race in the 1940s and 1950s.

IDF Creates Unit for Special Needs Youngsters

Most Israeli bands and performers would be happy to land a few gigs a month, but how many have clocked 500 performances in the past 14 months? Earlier this week, the Special in Uniform (SIU) Band of the Israel Defense Forces rocked the popular Zappa Club in Tel Aviv with their 500th performance in less than two years.  

The band, whose members are IDF soldiers with special needs, took to the stage of the prestigious entertainment venue had the audience on its feet.

Backstage, Adi Yehuda, 21, one of the lead SIU band singers, told how the rigorous schedule of rehearsals and performances enhances her life. “Being part of the band has made me the best version of myself,“ she said. 

“I feel comfortable on the stage, it feels like home to me. I love the music, the stage, the friends in the band,” she added. “I’m so grateful to be in uniform and to have performed for the president, the prime minister, the chief of staff, and to represent Israel to audiences abroad,” she added.  But the main motivator for Adi when she gets up to perform is to demonstrate that “we are not shy about our disabilities. This is us and we want to be in the army.”

That’s one of the major goals of the SIU program that has been supported by JNF-USA since 2014. The band is one component of a wide program to integrate young adults with disabilities into the IDF and into Israeli society.  Today the program has 950 participants serving in units all over Israel.

While the average Israeli 16-year-old gets a call-up notice and goes through a process of being assessed and assigned to an army unit, students in special needs programs are automatically refused.  

“SIU works with individual kids to find their strengths and together with social workers and psychologists, we make sure they have a place in the army,” Attia explained.  

High-functioning students with Asperger’s syndrome may find themselves analyzing maps or becoming experts in counting the multitude of components that make up the Iron Dome Defense system, while those with lesser abilities will be assigned to necessary work on the base in maintenance or in the kitchen.  Attia maintains that the greatest barrier to the integration of people with disabilities is awareness on the part of regular soldiers. “The goal of this band is to increase awareness,” he said. 

All young people love music, and when the band gets up and performs at a professional level, the regular soldiers admire them and see them as people they can respect and bring into their social circles, Attia explained.  Attia’s dedication to the integration of people with disabilities stems from a profound personal experience.  After an illustrious IDF career, Attia suffered a serious injury in 2006 and was hospitalized for a lengthy period, becoming despondent. The only person who was able to relate to him and pull him out of the depths was a young woman with Down syndrome.  “In the hospital, I vowed to dedicate myself to people with special needs,” he said. 

Eliyahu Natan is the father of Liya, 20, who has Williams syndrome, which is often marked by some physical deficiencies and learning problems, but also high sociability and outgoing personality traits.  “She’s a natural performer because of her syndrome,” Natan told JNS, “so now her whole life is music.”

Yoram Porat, another parent of a band member, shares Natan’s sentiments. Porat’s goal is to “show everyone that special needs people are different but able.” His daughter, Noa, has been exposed to people, places and experiences that have made her more independent and given her self-confidence, he said.

Jewish National Fund-USA’s Disabilities Task Force chair Gary Kushner praised the band for their tenacity. “Reaching their 500th performance is a remarkable achievement for our Special in Uniform band,” he said.  “Their musical journey serves as an inspiration to us all as they continue to break barriers and challenge preconceived notions about what is possible. Through their passion, talent and unwavering dedication, they have proven that disability is never a limitation when given the opportunity to shine.”

Forsaking the Material Legacy of our Forebears

The threat to the archaeological record in the heartland of Israel, Judea and Samaria, the cradle of our civilization, is untenable, and cannot be subject to political persuasions.

A muted but persistent cultural cleansing and destruction of immense proportion is occurring throughout Judea and Samaria. 

Historic sites, antiquities, and artifacts are being plundered, damaged, pilfered, or simply erased.  

In certain instances, illicit development work by Arabs in the area, such as the paving of pirate roadways or illegal mining operations, causes the unintentional destruction of rare and indescribably important antiquities. In other cases, it is the desire for looting and profit that causes intentional and irrevocable damage to archaeological sites in Judea and Samaria. 

Further still, and perhaps most egregiously, is the willingness of Arab leadership figures in Judea and Samaria to erase or culturally appropriate the history and archaeology of the Nation and Land of Israel fuel and intensify this cultural cleansing. After all, a rich archaeological record and abundant historical texts are the most conspicuous and potent testaments to the falsehood of Arab narratives concerning Am Yisrael and Eretz Yisrael. 

These attempts at cultural appropriation and expunction are also a critical aspect of the global campaign waged by many against Israel’s legitimacy and its very right to exist. The farcical proclamations made by UNESCO, the ethically bankrupt international body with a contempt for historical fact regarding anything to do with Israel, is one illustration of this campaign.

There is a troubling lack of awareness among the general Israeli public of the size and scope of the wanton destruction of antiquities in Judea and Samaria and its repercussions. 

Outside of Israel, awareness is almost non-existent except in archaeological and academic circles, and even then, it is limited. In recent years, a number of Israeli NGOs have been working hard to identify and publicize the ISIS-style damage and destruction. 

Addressing the problem properly will only come about with a sea change in the policies of the State of Israel toward archaeology as a whole in Judea and Samaria. A public outcry and the political pressure it can create are necessary to have the required policy changes enacted.

Currently, the Israel Antiquities Authority, one of the leading, if not the leading organization of its type in the world, is severely limited both in resources and in freedom of action in Judea and Samaria.

Given the Arab authorities’ facilitation as well as subtle and not so subtle support for the destruction and cultural appropriation of historic sites, diplomatic agreements on the subject have been contravened and so should be null and void. As such, the IAA should be empowered and have its mandate expanded in Judea and Samaria.

The threat to the archaeological record in the heartland of Israel, Judea and Samaria, the cradle of our civilization, is untenable. It cannot be subject to political persuasions. When the Taliban blew up the Buddhas of Bamiyan, outrage and condemnations were not based on whether one subscribed to leftist or rightist political ideologies. 

So too, politics are absent when we oppose the construction of a new parking lot or shopping mall over a two or three-century-old exilic cemetery on foreign soil in Europe or elsewhere.

It should then go without saying that there be no politicking when it comes to stopping the looting and destruction of the ancient tombs of our nation’s vaunted freedom fighters, the Hasmoneans, on our native soil at Jericho or at any other site in Judea and Samaria.

America and Britain claim to be allies of Israel. There is no gainsaying the deep links between them of military assistance, intelligence and trade. Israel is the invaluable strategic asset for America and Britain in the Middle East, a crucial bulwark in the defence of the west.  And yet both America and Britain undermine Israel’s security and defence against existential attack by sanitising, promoting and funding Palestinian Arabs, whose active cause remains the destruction of the Jewish state.

A recent event illustrated this particularly sharply when British diplomatic officials in Jerusalem effectively endorsed the Palestinian Authority’s agenda to eradicate Israel.  Palestinian Media Watch has revealed that at last Friday’s annual “Palestine Marathon” held by the PA, seven British officials taking part as “#TeamUK” wore marathon T-shirts displaying the PA’s map that erases Israel and represents the whole country as Palestine.  The Jewish Chronicle reports that the team consisted of the UK’s Deputy Consul General Alison McEwen and Foreign Office colleagues. A picture of the team was tweeted from the official account of the British Consulate in Jerusalem, hailing “the incredible Palestine Marathon to support #FREEDOMOFMOVEMENT for all Palestinians”.

Palestinian Media Watch observes that this hashtag was conceived to support the PA’s demand that Israel remove the security measures it has adopted to prevent the flow of Palestinian terrorists from PA-controlled areas into Israel’s cities.  According to The Jewish Chronicle, the marathon was organised by a group called “Right to Movement,” which campaigns against “the many obstacles that we live daily under fascist racist occupation”.  The race was held under the auspices of the Palestine Liberation Organisation Supreme Council for Youth and Sports headed by Jibril Rajoub, a man who has been convicted of numerous terrorist offences and who persistently glorifies Palestinian terrorist murderers.

So these British diplomats took part in an event supervised by a terrorist sympathiser; openly supported the Palestinian Arabs’ lie that Israel is subjecting them to “fascist racist occupation”; openly opposed Israel’s measures to protect its citizens against attack; and openly endorsed the eradication of Israel altogether.

The current British government under Prime Minister Rishi Sunak contains an unprecedented number of Israel supporters. So how can its diplomats have displayed such egregious hostility to Israel’s security and even its very existence?  The consular bodies run by both Britain and America in Jerusalem, which provide assistance to the Palestinian Arabs in the east of the city, the disputed territories and in the Gaza Strip, have long been viewed by the Israeli government as working against Israeli interests.

What is the reason for this two-faced attitude? There’s a charitable explanation and a less charitable one.

The charitable one is that neither the American nor British government accepts that the PA’s objective is the extermination of Israel. This is because these governments are committed to the “two-state solution”. It requires them to define the problem to which this is the solution as the division of land between two sets of people with legitimate claims to that land.  This is clearly untrue. The PA’s own repeated statements, its maps and insignia depicting a state of Palestine that erases Israel, its incitement to seize Israeli cities such as Haifa and Jaffa and its support for terrorism all show that its aim is Israel’s destruction.

Yet the American and British governments can’t allow themselves to acknowledge this. Partly, this is due to pressure from the Arab world. Mostly, though, it’s due to the implacable liberal belief in conflict resolution and peace processes.

Since the Americans and British can’t allow anything to disrupt such a peace process, they ignore any evidence of a non-negotiable and unconscionable agenda.  So Israel, which has always been willing to negotiate and has indeed offered a Palestinian state on numerous occasions, gets blamed for endangering the peace process when it insists on defending itself against never-ending Palestinian Arab terrorism.  That liberal tunnel vision helps explain why the Biden administration funds the PA even though it continues its “pay-for-slay” stipends to terrorists’ families.

The less charitable explanation, meanwhile, is that some of those promoting the Palestinian Arab cause are motivated by malign hatred of Israel and the Jewish people.

Anglo jaws collectively dropped to the floor upon reading an opinion    piece in The  Times of Friday 14th October. Lord Levy  is a British Jewish philanthropist and long-standing member of the Labour party, whose stellar fund-raising efforts earned him a peerage bestowed by Labour’s former leader (and Levy’s former tennis partner) Sir Tony Blair. Every single one of Levy’s arguments  are  misguided, ill-judged or flat-out wrong.

1'’The longstanding principle of Jerusalem’s status needing to be determined in a negotiated settlement”. This is a  wilful error. The principle in question was enshrined in the 1947 UN resolution proposing a division of Palestine between an Arab and a Jewish state, and which designated Jerusalem as a corpus separatum to be administered by the UN. Since the entire Partition Plan was rejected by the Arabs, however, it was never implemented and all its proposals were rendered void.

2 “Pouring fuel on the fire is highly irresponsible”. What fire? Despite global predictions of a Middle East conflagration if Trump moved the US embassy to Jerusalem, not only did this not happen but the historic Abraham Accords were signed between Israel and the Gulf states.

3“How does this benefit Britain in the world?” This is shallow and blinkered. Liz Truss has cemented a solid trading and friendship relationship with Israel. Her unambiguous acceptance of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital marks out her government as defying the poisonous anti-Israel consensus among other western countries. Given the importance to Britain of access to Israeli high-tech know-how, intelligence and security links, the proposed embassy move is patently in Britain’s national interest.

4: “All Arab ambassadors, including those representing states that have normalised relations with Israel, have expressed their opposition.” Exactly  the same happened when Trump moved the US embassy, which ignited furious  opposition across the Arab and Muslim world. Two years afterwards came the Abraham Accords.

5 The most egregiously false and incendiary of Levy’s assertions was his suggestion that, by moving the embassy, the UK would be conniving at Israel’s defiance of  “international legality”, “the UN charter”, the “inadmissibility of territorial acquisition” and “annexation by force”.But Israel is guilty of none of these things, which are all canards promulgated by its enemies.The international lawyer Professor Eugene Kontorovich has written, the key doctrine under international law that determines the borders of a state is uti possidetis juris (“as you possess under law”). According to this principle, Israel’s borders at the moment of independence were the borders of Mandatory Palestine — which included all of Jerusalem as well as Judea and Samaria. Kontorovich wrote “The UN, in its thousands of resolutions to the contrary, flagrantly ignores that principle.”

6 “The heads of the youth movements have strongly denounced the move. They are the future leadership of the Jewish community and should be listened to carefully. “If that is indeed so, then Britain’s Jewish community should be seriously alarmed that its young people are so catastrophically ill-informed about Israel, Jewish history and the Jewish people.

7 “A Trump-style UK relocation would be bad for peace.” But Trump’s relocation of the US embassy was followed by the Abraham Accords, the biggest advance for peace in the Middle East over the past century. Moving the UK embassy would also advance peace by signalling an end to Britain’s shameful century-old capitulation to Palestinian Arab lies and blackmail — a principal source of encouragement for Palestinian Arab rejectionism and violence. By publishing these views in The Times, Levy has in fact spoken for and reinforced Israel’s enemies.

Biden Scraps Israeli Flag in East Jerusalem

The Israeli flag was notably absent from President Biden’s limousine as he traveled to East Jerusalem Friday morning, a move critics said represented an insult to the Jewish state.

The removal of the Star of David flag — which was first reported by the Jerusalem Post — also undercut the administration’s insistence that Biden’s visit to the Augusta Victoria Hospital was not political in nature. The White House made the claim to justify turning down a request from the Israeli government that its officials be allowed to accompany Biden.

Since Biden’s arrival Wednesday, the presidential motorcade had flown the Israeli flag while traveling through Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, in keeping with traditional protocol. Biden’s predecessor, Donald Trump, recognized the latter city as Israel’s capital in 2017, and the current administration has not formally withdrawn that status.

On Thursday, the president said he was “honored to be back” in Jerusalem, which he described as the “capital of Israel” during a news conference alongside Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid.

Later in the presser, Biden was asked about his trip to East Jerusalem, which has long been floated as the potential capital of a future Palestinian state.

“You’ll visit, tomorrow, East Jerusalem, and you won’t be accompanied by an Israeli official,” one reporter said. “Does this represent a change in your administration’s view regarding the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and if East Jerusalem is part of it?”

“The answer to your last question is no,” Biden answered, without elaborating.

Israel captured East Jerusalem during the Six-Day War in 1967 and formally annexed it in 1980. Successive governments have insisted that the entire city — sacred to Christians, Muslims and Jews alike — is part of Israeli territory and that partition cannot be part of peace talks with the Palestinians.

“Today’s pictures of his [Biden’s] limousine on its way to east Jerusalem, without the Israeli flag that has been flying at its helm until now, highlights the message he is trying to send; that the sovereignty of Jerusalem, Israel’s eternal capital, is on the table for negotiation,” Danny Danon, a member of the opposition Likud party and Israel’s former representative at the United Nations, said in a statement to the Jerusalem Post.

“On this, I say to the President; President Biden, this move only spreads false hopes and sows discord instead of peace,” Danon added. “Just as no leader would request that Washington or any world capital be divided, so too Jerusalem, the capital of the Jewish people, will forever remain united.”

uring his trip, Biden has reiterated US support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, calling it the “best way” to ensure “a lasting negotiated peace.”

“Both states fully respecting the equal rights of their citizens; both people enjoying equal measures of freedom,” he said Thursday. “And any more that takes us further from that outcome — I believe — anything is detrimental to the long-term security of Israel.”

On Friday, the White House said Biden had insisted on the importance of negotiations to create an “independent, sovereign, viable and contiguous Palestinian state” during a meeting with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

However, Biden admitted to reporters following the meeting that “the ground is not ripe at this moment to restart negotiations.”

“I do believe in this moment, when Israel is improving relations with its neighbors throughout the region, we can harness that same momentum to reinvigorate the peace process between the Palestinian people and the Israelis,” he added.
