Ahed Tamimi’s Global Propaganda Tour

Ahed Tamimi was recently released from eight months in an Israeli prison for attacking an IDF soldier in a video that went viral on social and mainstream media.

Tamimi is now on something of an international press tour to talk about her experience and world view.
Speaking on France 24, Tamimi gave a beautifully polished interview in which she posited herself as an icon of peace. She said Israelis should “find their humanity” claiming they are trained to hate and kill Palestinians. According to the translation she even threw in a reference to (entirely fictional) armed Israeli 14 year olds.
Brainwashed
Ahed accuses Israelis of being, “brainwashed,” saying that Israelis are “victims” because they have been “fed with hatred.”
Yet it is Ahed herself who has been abused, victimized, fed with hatred and brainwashed.
Ahed’s Tragic Childhood
Ahed Tamimi grew up in an environment permeated with Palestinian terrorism: terror  in which her family has long played an active and prominent role.  For example,  Ahed’s aunt helped plan the horrific Sbarros Pizza restaurant bombing, and her mother posted anatomically precise tutorials on how to most effectively stab Israelis. (More on these below.)
Ironically, this very terrorism is the reason Israel has security measures in the first place.
Since childhood Ahed has learned from her family that all of Israel is occupied Palestinian land, including Tel Aviv, and that she must fight to gain all of it. Hardly a path to peace. And Ahed’s family have placed her personally in danger over and over, for the benefit of cameras.
How would such an upbringing affect any child?
Misleading interviews
After Tamimi gave a similarly misleading interview on Al Jazeera’s online channel AJ+, we produced the following video critique, which was viewed over one million times. It makes a succinct summary of the key shortcomings in press coverage of Ahed Tamimi:
Here are a few of the key points:
Ahed Tamimi herself called for stabbings and suicide bombings against Israelis:
Ahed’s mother provided online instructions on how to most effectively stab Israelis (particularly vile in light of the fatal stabbing of American-Israeli Ari Fuld just last week):

If you're wondering how the Palestinian "child" terrorist who stabbed an Israeli to death today was able to aim his knife so well, you have to know that instructions on where to aim are promoted on social media by the likes of #AhedTamimi's mother, see above

Ahed’s aunt expressed her “delight”after assisting to plan the infamous Sbarros Pizza restaurant bombing during the Second Intifada, killing 15 Israeli civilians, including 7 children and a pregnant woman, and left 130 wounded.

Ahed herself is essentially a victim of child abuse: her parents have put her in harm’s way for the benefit of cameras at least since she was 12 years old. For example, in this video Ahed’s parents attack an Israeli soldier, while being sure to keep their children in the way of their violence and in front of the cameras.

After an entire lifetime of being taught hate and sent into conflict zones, in a manner no child should endure, Ahed Tamimi is now taking her family’s twisted message to the world.
Yet Ahed’s own words, her family’s own words, and their years of deadly terrorism, betray their true intentions. Both the media, and we, the viewers, should be able to  see through her disingenuous claims to the disturbing truth beneath.
Almost two months after she was released from Israeli prison for assaulting an IDF soldier, Palestinian teenager Ahed Tamimi is rapidly losing her status as an “icon” and “symbol” of the Palestinian “resistance” against Israel.

Some Palestinians and Arabs now view the blond, photogenic 17-year-old from the village of Nabi Saleh near Ramallah as a controversial figure because of her statements and the widespread media coverage she has been receiving since her release from prison on July 29.
Recently, for example, Tamimi found herself at the center of controversy surrounding the ongoing Western Sahara conflict between the Polisario Front and the Kingdom of Morocco.
Commenting on the Palestinian teenager’s words of support for Nasrallah, Syrian poet and writer Maher Sharaf Eddin said: “It’s true that you slapped an Israeli soldier, but now you have dealt 1,000 blows to the Palestinian cause.”
“Many Palestinians are asking how come Ahed Tamimi is receiving all this attention from the international media,” said a Palestinian journalist in Ramallah. “There’s a feeling that someone is trying to turn this girl into a big hero and an icon. The Western media is trying to create a Palestinian hero.”
